Reading List rollover 2025 - Friday 30th May

What is the Reading List Rollover? 

The reading list rollover is an annual process, where reading lists associated with the previous academic year (i.e. 2024/2025) are rolled over into the new academic year (i.e. 2025/26).

During the rollover process, a copy of the current year’s list is made at the point when rollover takes place and this new copy will be associated to the new academic year.

• Rollover will take place slightly earlier this year, on Friday 30^th May and is expected to be complete by Monday 2^nd June (lists are not archived at this point). Libraries & Collections will update the Rollover page of LibGuides to notify when the process is complete.
• Once the process is complete, a new draft list will be available and will have the new course code for the upcoming academic year.
• During the rollover process, all lists from the previous academic year will be locked by the library. Lists will be read-only until they are archived. Therefore, changes cannot be made to these lists. If you still need to make changes to the previous year's list, please contact library@kcl.ac.uk, who can assist with this. 
• Lists from previous academic year will be archived by the end of August. Once archived, lists will not be visible to staff and students. Further communications will be circulated closer to the time. If you still require the previous year's list to remain viewable by students, please contact library@kcl.ac.uk, who can assist with this. 

What do I have to do? 

List owners are asked not to make any changes to their list during the process, which will be completed by the 2^nd June.

Any references to specific years within the title of a reading list will be copied over to the new reading list for the next academic year. A reminder that, where necessary, any dates in the reading list titles will need to be manually updated by faculty to reflect the new academic year.

What happens after?

After rollover is complete, we urge all academics to check that there is a new list available for the new academic year. If you believe that your list has not correctly rolled over or if you have any issues, please get in touch with the library at library@kcl.ac.uk.
